POEM ABOUT CHRIST
Reproduction by Mantegna or Holbein – where the body is like a landscape.
We are accustomed to distorted images,
To dead appearances, and this landscape is ours.
Again we crucify Christ,
And read not the novel of Kazantzakis,
But with fervent haste.
Christ is dead – and that is our flaw.
Christ lives – and the heavens above us
With a sum of radiance – Christ lives –
Affirm.
We are gentle with sins,
We do not gather spiritual roses.
The waters of Jordan sparkle
With fiery and golden brocade,
And baptism embraces the Son of Man – stand firm!
To the Son of Man given
We shall not repeat the path to deification!
In our deceptive modernity –
It would be so ridiculous. Go with him!
A dove in the sky gently turns gold.
The Son of God goes forth to preach.
Black, dull faces all around,
An empty cycle of pale deeds.
How can he, born in a cave,
Seize royal power, thick authority?
The wise men rode, believing in the event.
In vain did Hell crave sacrifices.
They rode through the blue – and round –
Snow on camels and donkeys.
Shepherds went – the night bloomed absurdly,
With an incomprehensible joy in their hearts.

Is Christ born in every heart?
Master Eckhart said: You could have been born
In Bethlehem a thousand times –
If it did not happen in your heart
That birth – nothing more than a story.
Here is the flight to Egypt, key event,
For an angel announced it.
What next? Does your heart worry?
Do you try to grasp the fabric of events -
Or did Christ comprehend the wisdom of light in the East?
But the gospel verses are silent on that. However, there is a question.
Here is the miraculous catch –
The Lord acquired disciples.
Temptations in the wilderness silenced
The word of light.
We know many words, believing that
They are with the eternal Word of Words.
Who now will be overcome by vanity?
Few are ready.
... wars raged fiercely on reality,
Wars where blood was spilled for faith.
Arrows, spears, as if life is a banality,
And love is distorted in its surroundings.
Christ enters Jerusalem,
Here he cleanses the temple from the greedy.
The sound of communion – real,
Such things are unknown to us people.
Who was Joseph of Arimathea,
Who collected Christs blood in a chalice?
Having fulfilled his duty of existence
In a bitter, extremely difficult hour.
You are great, Christ – I know, I know,
I – a writer – am too small.
And – alas, I do not suffer for you,
But I am wounded by the sum of evils.
You are great – to you I turn,
Life-giving word! Revive
The soul, if I cannot comprehend it -
If it is in sins, almost in blood?
A garden full of lights, and torches burn
In the hands of soldiers, and here
Christ is taken, and passions pierce
People – he is full of them, waiting for something.
The trial of Pilate – not a trial in essence.
He would have sent legionnaires
Dressed as Zealots... But this path
Is impossible, even though Pilate longed
To release such a poor man.
But the heights of law cannot be changed.
If Christ came from the word,
Then events must follow according to the word.
They flogged him, fierce and ridiculed,
And wove a crown of thorns.
And in a crimson cloud they frolicked
The dregs of worldly concerns.
Christ went, he went, bent by the cross,
Blood was shed in capsules of sand.
Holy blood...
Laughter, sharp tales
Rags, and curiosity – where is love?
Its spherical volume is above us.
Who gives to the poor today?
Who fears sin? What – its not a flame:
Sin is pleasant, it can hardly burn.

Christ goes through a labyrinth of torments.
What enmity have we raised on high
Our ignorance – question -
Our true ignorance to see,
To separate the essence from the glitter.
Worship! Here is your rock idol!

We need our own thing, yogurt in the morning,
And we generally like to live sweetly.
We are holier! Closer to Christ!
Inter-church dialogue will not happen.
Nothing above the roof we see.
I dont judge – I reflect.
Here.
Here is Christ going, bent by the cross.
Here he was crucified. He rose again. Light shines.
We grow – and steadily create
Lifes garden.
And there are no alternatives.

Die Frau hingegen wirkt in ihrer Haltung etwas angespannt oder nachdenklich. Ihr Blick ist auf den Mann gerichtet, doch es scheint mehr als nur eine einfache Beobachtung zu sein.
Die Umgebung spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der Inszenierung der Szene. Die Bäume im Hintergrund, deren Äste sich sanft in den Himmel strecken, sowie die dahinter liegende Landschaft vermitteln einen Eindruck von Frieden und Abgeschiedenheit. Das Licht fällt weich auf die Figuren und die Landschaft und verstärkt so die idyllische Atmosphäre.
